Why Andes HVAC

Why Choose Us

Six reasons homeowners across Montclair, Ridgewood, Summit and the rest of North Jersey keep calling us back.

Existing Buildings Only

We service, repair and replace equipment in homes and buildings that are already standing and lived in. No new construction, no rough-ins — just the systems people are relying on today.

We Diagnose Before We Quote

Gauges on the ports, amp draw measured, controls checked in order. Finding the actual fault is what stops a thirty-dollar part turning into a whole new system.

Honest, Up-Front Pricing

Free estimates and the price for the repair before the work starts. Ask about 15% off your next maintenance service.

Open Six Days a Week

Monday to Friday 9 AM – 5 PM and Saturdays 9 AM – 2 PM, which is usually the easiest time for someone to actually be home.

Repair or Replace, Both Priced

If a unit is worth fixing we fix it. If it is finished, we say so and price the replacement — both numbers, side by side, so the choice is yours.

Cooling and Heating, One Call

Central air, boilers, mini-splits and full unit replacement under one roof. No separate contractor for the half of the year you are not using.

Frequently Asked Questions

We work across North Jersey — Montclair, Upper Montclair, Glen Ridge, Short Hills, Livingston, North Caldwell, Essex Fells, Roseland, Cedar Grove, Rutherford, Lyndhurst, Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Wyckoff, Paramus, Wayne, Summit, Westfield, Cranford and Scotch Plains, plus the towns in between. We're based in Kearny. If you're not sure whether you're in range, call and ask.

No. We work exclusively on existing homes and buildings — service and repair on equipment that's already in place. That's a deliberate choice: a house that's already finished and lived in is a completely different job from a rough-in, and it's the one we're set up to do well.

It depends entirely on what has failed. A capacitor is a small job; a compressor or a heat exchanger is not. We diagnose the system first, then give you the price for the repair before any work starts — and if the unit isn't worth repairing, we'll tell you that instead of charging you to find out slowly. Estimates are free.

Nothing. Coming out to look at the system, work out what's wrong, and write up a price for the repair costs nothing — there's no trip charge, service call fee, or diagnostic fee added to the bill afterwards. We tell you what we found and what the fix costs before any work starts, and you decide then. If the unit turns out not to be worth repairing, we'll say so, and you haven't paid anything to find that out.

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Saturday appointments are often the easiest time for people to be home and walk us through what the system has been doing.

Yes — 15% off your next maintenance service. Refer a friend or neighbor and the same 15% applies again. Most of our work comes from word of mouth, so we'd rather put it there than into advertising.

The honest test is age against the cost of the repair. Under about ten years old with a normal repair, fix it. Fifteen years or more with a major component gone — compressor, coil, heat exchanger — and you're usually paying a large share of a new system to extend an old one. Systems still running R-22 refrigerant tip the math toward replacement faster, because the refrigerant itself is now expensive. We'll price both and let you decide.

Yes, and this is a lot of what we do in towns like Montclair, Glen Ridge, Rutherford and Ridgewood. A ductless mini-split puts an indoor head in the room itself and runs a small refrigerant line back to an outdoor unit, so nothing has to be opened up for duct chases. One head handles a room or an open floor; a multi-zone system handles several with one outdoor unit.

Usually it's airflow rather than capacity. Undersized or crushed returns, a clogged filter, leaking duct in a hot attic, or dampers that were never balanced will all starve the top floor while the first floor over-cools. That's worth checking before anyone sells you a bigger system. If the ductwork genuinely can't serve the floor, one ductless head upstairs fixes it permanently and costs far less than replacing everything.

Yes — gas and oil, steam and hot water. No heat, no hot water, banging pipes, cold rooms at the end of the loop, pressure that won't hold. Most heating failures turn out to be a control, a circulator pump, a zone valve, or air in the system rather than the boiler itself, which is why we test before we quote.

Once a year for each side: cooling in the spring, heating in the fall. It isn't a sales line — most of the emergency calls we get in July and January are for something that would have been visible and cheap during a maintenance visit. Returning customers get 15% off that service.
